Woven Loft Masterclass: Textures in Interior Styling

Welcome to the Woven Loft Masterclass series—where design becomes intentional, and homes become stories.

In this edition, Niyati Shah, our founder, invites interior stylist Vaidehi from House of Flair for a textured tête-à-tête over coffee, diving deep into one of the most subtle yet impactful design elements—texture.

Why Texture Matters

As Niyati shares, "Your home isn’t just seen — it’s felt." And nothing embodies that more than the thoughtful layering of textures. Texture adds soul to your space. It’s what turns a house into a tactile, lived-in, and loved home.

Vaidehi adds: "Mixing textures and materials is one of my favorite aspects of styling. Heading into 2025, the focus is on creating depth, warmth, and personality through contrast."

What We’re Noticing in Homes Today

Vaidehi reflects: “One of the most common things I see in homes today is a shift from perfection to presence. Most homes now are truly lived in—with their own beautiful imperfections. We play many perfect roles: the perfect mother, the perfect partner, the perfect professional. But our homes? They’ve become our refuge. A space where we rejuvenate, not perform. And texture plays the lead role here—bringing comfort, warmth, and authenticity to every corner.”

Vaidehi’s Top 3 Textures of 2025

1. Ceramic
Textured ceramics add grounding detail. Whether it’s matte stoneware mugs, ridged vases, or hand-moulded bowls—they layer your space with character and imperfection. “Ceramic is here to stay,” Vaidehi affirms.

2. Linen
Vaidehi says “It softens a space while still looking effortlessly styled.” And She loves wearing linen. From sofas to cushion covers, it creases, it breathes, and most importantly—it feels like home.

3. Rattan

“I love Cane, Rattan and Seagrass “ and use it in most of my projects.

Niyati shares, rattan holds a special place in her heart—and her home. Whether in furniture, light fixtures, or accessories, its handwoven charm brings heritage and craftsmanship into modern design. She passionately supports this craft because she believes it's timeless. “Rattan was here 20 years ago, and it’s still around—but in evolved forms like vases, mats, trays, and more. Its versatility is unmatched.” Through her platform, Niyati is also committed to supporting the artisans who keep this legacy alive.

Trending Textures to Know in 2025

Here are a few tactile materials that are defining conscious decor this season:

1. Bouclé Soft, nubby, and oh-so-inviting, bouclé upholstery is having a major moment. Use it for accent chairs or cushions to instantly add softness and richness to your living room.

2. Jute Natural and grounding, jute works beautifully in rugs and baskets. It brings a relaxed, earthy texture that anchors the space without overpowering it.

3. Limewash Walls For depth without drama, limewash finishes bring an organic, matte surface with beautiful pigment variation. A go-to for creating calm, meditative interiors.

Final Thought

Niyati closes the session with a reflection:

“Whether you’re styling a nook or reimagining an entire room, let texture lead. It’s the quiet layer that makes a space feel lived in, loved, and uniquely yours.”
